Zetty the HareThis week, I am loving Zetty as I am loving Zeta the hare. Zetty is my new favorite furry character of all time. I'm so happy about this because my brother, who is not that fond of animals, got me Zetty when I was a child.Playing with him can be hard at times. Even when he was a baby, Zetty would wake up in the middle of the night to eat his food. He would come out and run around the house for hours just trying to get all the vitamins and minerals in his diet. Well, Zetty stopped when I learned to be nice to him.One day, I asked him why he didn't want to sleep with me. He explained to me that he wasn't like other hares. He likes to hunt. I tried to explain to him that Zetty and the other hares don't have to hunt. I suggested that he should be playing with other hares instead of chasing them in the middle of the night.Well, he still had a big argument with me over it. After that, I let him play with other hares instead of chasing after them. It worked like a charm.If you 're thinking about getting Zetty as a new mama hare, please do your research first. There are many pet stores that offer this animal.When I wanted to get Zetty a gift, I first went to the pet store and told them what Zetty liked. The woman there was so nice and gave me a few options. She talked about some of the cute stuffed toys that he likes. I was really surprised.So, now, Zetty will never go to bed without having a toy to play with, and even the other hares will no longer scare him with their loud screeches. The 54-year-old former supermodel, who rose to fame as a teenager signed to the Ford agency, is now even more widely known as the mother of Gigi and Bella Hadid (supermodels in their own right) as well as a star of Bravoâs The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which she left in 2016. But sheâs back as the host of her own reality show, Making a Model with Yolanda Hadid, airing on Lifetime Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST. Hadid plays coach, judge, and surrogate mom to contestants who hope to be the next face of major fashion brands, with the twist that the young womenâs actual mothers are also in tow. âThe judging part of the show was really the hardest thing for me to do because I donât believe in judgment. I believe in positive reinforcement and doing it in a sweet way,â Hadid said of the experience. She set out to pull on viewersâ âheartstringsâ with Making a Model and hopes she provided the models and their moms with ârealisticâ expectations of the industry. After chronicling her struggle with Lyme disease on Real Housewives and in a book, Hadid says she is currently âfeeling amazingâ and is ready to tackle her next phase. She spoke to Money about what sheâs learned in a long, lucrative career in modeling and mediaâ"and her one true splurge. Yolanda Hadid started with next to nothing Born Yolanda van den Herik, Hadid grew up in the Netherlands under difficult circumstances, which influenced how she approached her modeling career, which began when she was only 16. âI was very money-driven,â she said. âI come from a very poor family and my dad died when I was seven, I took on this huge responsibility that I was going to provide for my mother and my brother. It wasnât that I had the dream of being a model. I never wore makeup. I didnât even know what Vogue or Cosmo or Elle was because it wasnât part of my life.â After being signed to Ford Models and spending time in Paris and Milan, Hadid moved into a âmodel homeâ in New York Cityâ"a place where rising models are given a chance to live. âI remember my mom gave me 100 guilders [the former Dutch currency], which was a lot of money for where I came from, and when I exchanged it, I think I ended up with like $55 dollars in my pocket,â she said. Her agency gave her a âroll of quartersâ to use between her go-sees, which are appointments where models have the opportunity to get hired. New to both the city and the country, she made her way from one meeting to the next using a paper map. âI was hungry to survive and my mom gave me a great set of tools, a great work ethic, and I guess destiny puts you on your path,â Hadid said. âI was meant to be there.â Hadidâs first big purchase was a smart investment As a young, successful model, Hadid was surprisingly careful with her earnings. âI was keeping tally marks for every thousand dollars I was making. I came here to make money and go home and buy my horses and take care of my family and continue my life in Holland â" America is just so great for that,â she said. Except she never ended up leaving her adopted homeland. Eventually, Hadid left New York for Los Angeles, where she made her first significant purchase at 21 years old. And it offers a lesson for young people today. âI didnât know about luxury items. I never spent any money. I was very frugal,â she said. âI bought an apartment in Los Angeles and that was my first piece of real estate. I started working for that, paying that off, and that was probably a good move because I sold it many, many years later, and made a lot of money off it. I was always interested in how I could make money.â Becoming Beverly Hills royalty Hadidâs first marriage was to real estate magnate Mohamed Hadid, whoâs known for building mansions and hotels in the Los Angeles area and has also appeared on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. They had three kids who all became models: Gigi, Bella, and son Anwar. They were married from 1994 to 2000. She later married David Foster, whoâs worked with singers including Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, in 2011, and their divorce was finalized in 2017. At the time of their split, Hadidâs net worth was reported to be a lofty $45 million to his $30 million, in part coming from her modeling and TV success but also her divorce settlement with Mohamed Hadid. While on Real Housewives, Yolanda reportedly earned a six-figure salary per season. âItâs pretty amazing to look back,â Hadid said, reflecting on how far sheâs come from her roots. âI was very motivated.â How modeling has changed in the internet age When Hadid first stepped into modeling, the life was very different. âI would do literally 12 go-sees a day in order to meet clients and advertising agencies in order to break into a new market,â she said. âIn todayâs world, you can start posting on your social media outlets and you can catch somebodyâs eye in Paris while youâre not even in Paris. Itâs a very different business today.â Brands and agencies now look closely at modelsâ online followings, and not just the numbers, but what they have to say. âI think that in my time we didnât have a voice,â Hadid said. âWe were pretty faces who went to work at six in the morning, sunup until sundown, and we really didnât have a space to express who it was that we were as human beings. I say to my kids, âWhy has God given you this platform and what are you going to do with it? Because it certainly wasnât created for you just to post pretty selfies.ââ But the shift hasnât been entirely positive, she adds. âSocial media also comes with a whole bag of worms. Itâs too new for us to really understand how it affects the youth and the hate and the death threats and opinions from people that donât really know who theyâre talking toâ"thatâs the negative part of it.â The tough lesson she gives her kids Gigi and Bella Hadid may have made it to superstardom, with 37.9 million followers and 16.7 million followers on Instagram, respectively. But Yolanda is intent that it not go to her daughtersâ heads. âKids have to know theyâre no better than anybody else,â she said. âMy Gigi and Bella can be on the covers of magazines, but theyâre no better or prettier than anybody else. Theyâre just normal kids like everybody else. When they started working, I said to the girls, âListen, thereâs going to be a million girls that are more beautiful than you are and deserve success as much as you do, so how are you going to set yourself apart?â âYou have to be the hardest-working girl on the job. You have to be kind and polite to everyone, not just to the people who can further your career,â Hadid adds. âBeauty doesnât last, but the way you make people feel is something they will remember forever.â Why she prefers a simple life down on the farm Hadid splits her time now between an apartment in New York City and a farm in the Netherlands, which she calls a âsanctuaryâ for her and her family. Itâs pretty much the opposite of what viewers saw of her Malibu mansion on Real Housewives. âMy happiness is buying a little pony, feeding my cows and my goats, and getting my fresh eggs from my chickens, so thatâs really where my joy is,â she said. Sheâs back to riding horses, a pastime that she passed on to Gigi and Bella. âWeâre just hopping around shoveling the shit and getting back to our roots,â she added, laughing. Her one splurge Hadid still claims she isnât much of a believer in the material life, but in dealing with lyme disease, she has become an ardent consumer of alternative remedies and adheres to a strict organic diet. She admits that sheâs dropped quite a lot of coin on vitamins alone, and even administers her own intravenous therapy three days a week. âIâm eager to learn every day and try new things. Thatâs really a big part of my life and thatâs the only place I like to spend money,â she said of her dedication to holistic health. Plus, she appreciates it a lot more than a Chanel handbag.

Top 10 Questions NOT To Ask Yourself In A Job Search - Work It Daily Iâm about to say something radical: If you are searching for a new job, the number one most dangerous thing you can do is ask yourself questions about your job search. âWhat do you mean?â you may ask. âAre you crazy? All the job search guides tell me to answer questions like what my goals are and what my ideal job is. If I donât ask myself questions, how will I get answers?â The problem with asking yourself questions is it's really difficult to have a conversation with yourself. Asking yourself questions will get you only the answers you can generate yourself. Those answers are necessarily limited. Your conversation might sound something like this: âWhat do I want to do next? Oh, I donât really want to think about that. Iâm confused. The economy sucks. Maybe Iâll never get a job again. I think I have to do the laundry. Wait, what was that question?â Thankfully, thereâs an alternative to this mind chatter: Have someone ELSE â" someone you trust â" ask you the important job search questions. You might be surprised at the clarity you achieve when you bounce ideas off another human being. That person might be a job search coach or a relative or a friend. It MUST be someone who listens extremely well and asks good questions. Here are the top 10 questions to have someone ELSE ask you. Give this list to someone you trust and have him or her read it to you, one question at a time: What do you love about your current position (or last position)? What donât you like about your current position (or last position)? What would be your ideal work schedule? Do you work best with people or alone? With a lot of supervision or little supervision? What size organization and corporate culture are the best matches for you? How much money do you want/need to make? Is there a job at your current company that you would want to do? And/or is there a way your current job could become your dream job? Whatâs your dream job? Who in your life can you talk to about what itâs like to do X job? What will you do to find out more about the day to day realities of X job? It doesnât hurt to begin by answering these questions on your own. You might have some success in generating useful answers. But whatever you do, donât stop there. I guarantee you some new thought or clarity will come from having a conversation about these questions with someone other than yourself. This means women have to approach negotiating a promotion, for example, more stringently than men, who have the advantage of perceived potential in their corner.The only way to change that over time is to have many, many more women in management ranks making promotion decisions and remodeling what a VP looks like, Newman said. But what Ive come to realize is that, until that day comes, we have to recognize in the interim that this is the environment were in, and we have to be prepared to work that much harder for what we want.To that end, Newman and her fellow panelists shared the tactics theyve personally used to negotiate for what they want with success.1. Do a risk assessment.When considering whether to negotiate for something, panel moderator and Landits Chief Business Development Officer Rachel Jacobson recommended asking yourself three questions.When thinking about raising your hand and taking risks, ask yourself these three questions Whats holding-gesellschaft you back? Whats the worst thing that can happen if you do take that risk? And, can you live with that? Jacobson said. Forcing yourself to put the worst possible scenario of a situation into finite terms, she added, can give you perspective and help turn your answer to question No. 3 into a yes.2. Be clear on what you want.You need to be really clear with yourself on what you want, whats a dealbreaker, and how far youre willing to go,Bonnie Marcus, founder and CEO of Womens Success Coaching, said.What I find when working with some of my clients is that they arent really clear on those, and so its easy to be pushed aside and distracted by the other party.Alli McCartney, Managing Director at UBS, said that to help give her clarity on these points, she has a practice of writing them all down.I write down on paper who I am, what I want, what energizes me and what depletes me, she said. Ive had that list since I was 22, and its evolved.3. Do your homework.As Marcus put it, doing your homework in advance of a negotiation doe snt just mean brushing up on your own wants and goals.You have to do your homework on whats happened in the company before who already has what youre asking for, and are there any known policies in place that may affect you? she said. You also need to know who youre talking to. What are their values, whats their personality, and what do they want to hear?4. Overstep your bounds.Too often, women are the ones stopping themselves a few steps short, Newman said. To circumvent that tendency, dont base your negotiations on what feels like the adequate or appropriate amount of effort.If you dont feel like you might be overstepping, you probably arent pushing hard enough, she said, adding that following this ethos bedrngnislage only helped her land a punkt she was underqualified for earlier in her career, but ultimately led to a series of five promotions in the five years after.5. Sing your own praises.For many junior workers, Jacobson said, theres a false belief that hard work will natura lly lend itself to advances in pay and position without a need to negotiate or advocate for them.We think if we put our heads down and do a great job, everyone is going to notice our great work when actually, a quarter of your coworkers are in the boss office running through their list of accomplishments, she said. If youre not your own best advocate, whether its dealing with negotiation or anything else, youre starting at a comparative disadvantage.6. A lot of people think of office politics as standing around the water cooler complaining, but if you can see it as an opportunity that isnt necessarily negative, that can help you.Lee agreed, saying it wasnt until she was well into her career that she realized office politics dont have to be toxic.Once you start to reframe office politics, you see its not like Game of Thrones where everyone is trying to unseat each other its about building relationships and managing up as well as managing down, she said.8. Use failure to your advantage.Newman, who described a fear of rejection and failure as peoples most common deterrent when considering whether to take a risk, said that becoming a sales person transformed her perspective on this fear.Becoming a sales person changed my life, because when youre a sales person, you expect to get rejected, she said. If you havent failed, youre probably not trying enough new things. You have to reboot, and you have to seek failure and rejection, because those are the stepping stones to success, learning, growth, and I think happiness, too.
